President’s Message
Dear Members and Friends of The Harlem Valley Chamber of Commerce,
I recently attended an assembly of county chamber of commerce and business group leaders which was arranged by The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce. This meeting was to discuss a new initiative called the Chamber Alliance Committee. I have discussed this alliance with our chamber Board and we voted on the issue and decided it would be a good idea to make this alliance. Under this arrangement small businesses of 5 or less employees that join our chamber will have the amount of their annual fee (first year only) deducted from their membership fee of The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce. So for example you join our chamber for $100 and to join the DCRCC, www.dutchesscountyregionalchamber.org, is $300, you would only be billed $200 to join them. This is a good incentive for small businesses to be part of a much larger chamber that has extensive resources available to it's members. Under this arrangement our chamber will also receive 2 annual radio slots, the opportunity to post our events on their Community Calendar, a link from their home page to ours, a spot in their Chamber newsletter, and use of the Think Local First logo for all or our members. It will also give our members access to lower Health Insurance opportunities which is of vital importance in this time of rising costs. Our good friend Charles North, president of the DCRCC has already started to help us by having our Expo flier inserted, at no charge, into over 2,000 upcoming issues of their newsletter The Bottom Line.
Just a gentle reminder to that if you have not renewed your membership of our chamber now is a great time to do so.
